Hi all, Does anyone have any recommendations for gastroscopes. We bought a Medequus scope 2.5 years ago with the assurance it would last for ever 10-15 years. hi Lindsay, only just catching up with messages as my app has been misbehaving. we’ve definitely started having problems with insurance companies – I now always warn owners before any score that if only grade 1 ulcers found they won’t be covered. we’ve also found where an ulcer claim is open and still has time / money left they will not pay for…[Read more]

hi all, we’re thinking of buying a new gastroscope so had a snoop around at London vet show but wondered if anyone has any recommendations? I’ve heard of a few issues with certain ones being unreliable and not switching on properly which is not what you want having starved a horse for 16 hours! thanks, Kate
we use Paul Duncan VESCO for scopes. bought a new one recently – make sure you ask re loan scope availability – we now have one with a decent pool of loan scopes- scopes are v temperamental creatures

Hi Kate, any feedback gratefully received. I received a couple of responses and general consensus was due to the way the scope is put together 2 x 1.5m, there’s always a weak area in the middle so you need to budget for regular (costly) repairs. Same experience despite using/trying scopes from various suppliers so wouldn’t recommend one over another.
