has anyone had any problems with gastric ulcers claims ? we have had an insurance co decide the claim is closed as complete resolution noted on re scope – despite having months of time left on claim and being nowhere near vets fees limit. and another where vet Rec ongoing Tx as grade 1 ulcers noted but still symptomatic – but ins co have clause in t’s and c’s saying only ulcers of grade 2 and above are covered. so we are now being very careful how we word clinical notes.
Not yet, but thanks for the warning. As you say, clinical notes need to be very carefully worded if this is the case.
hi Lindsay, only just catching up with messages as my app has been misbehaving. we’ve definitely started having problems with insurance companies – I now always warn owners before any score that if only grade 1 ulcers found they won’t be covered. we’ve also found where an ulcer claim is open and still has time / money left they will not pay for prophylactic treatment e.g Horse diagnosed with ulcers, treated successfully but then quickly having box rested for long time due to orthopaedic issues,
