Fancy a weekend in Cornwall? Come to the CVA CPD day with access to 20 hours of awesome CPD lectures and a trade exhibit. Only ÂŁ80 if you order before 21st February. All veterinary flavours catered for: companion, farm and equine. See you there. (PS the surf should be good too)

Has anyone been sent a 2022 price file from Idexx that’s compatible with Robovet PMS? I think it’s a .txt format. Every year they promise it before the price increase but never deliver! I really can’t face manually updating hundreds of tests and working out which have been discontinued! Thanks, Ben
Hi Ben, Covetrus have the nonencrypted file now and have put it on for us this morning. Might be worth giving them a ring.
thanks for the heads up Diane. thank you.

Does anyone have a policy statement on elective caesarian sections that they are willing to share? Thanks in advance.
I’ll get in touch with a few practices who might be able to help Ben.

How do you all handle charging breeders for pre-mating progesterone? I know some are sending sample off themselves – so consult fee and blood sample fee? how about revisits for subsequent samples? reduced fee with RVN. Are some doing in house (i know Idexx do progesterone)? Or are some sending to external labs? Just a bit concerned that it gets…[Read more]
Hi Ben
Had this from Sue Bello at Essex Vets – hope it helps!
Essex Vets have our own 360 machine in house so we have results in 20 mins, we charge ÂŁ30 per test in total, we then build up a relationship with the owner and make a scan and c section plan if the breed required it
We progesterone test in house with AI360 and samples can be ran though IDEXX Catalyst too but it is much more costly through the Catalyst. For non veterinary ‘canine fertility clinics’ prices are around ÂŁ30 per test with no consult fee. Our tests are ÂŁ50 per test, no consult fee and that cost remains the same whether they need 1 or 10 tests.
Thanks all, loving the vesture community!

Thanks for this Ashley, interesting insight regarding the “red tape” of a subscription model. Would this also apply if just covering in house services only (so unlimited consultations for example) rather than […]

Anyone got any good places to advertise a new Practice Manager role? VPMG and linkedin already running it but anywhere else appreciated? this person may be coming from outside the industry and I’ve lived in the vet world too long I don’t know where to try!!!!
Indeed.com definitely worth a go Ben. Students at Bristol careers fair last week said they are going to this site to look for vet jobs as well as Vet Times!
Thinking along the same lines as indeed, I wonder if reed.co.uk might be worth a go too?

Does anyone have any strong practice management system recommendations? We are with Robovet but seems very expensive with poor service (let alone having to buy a new server next although this is allegedly Microsoft’s fault)… Wanting to have a look at LVS but don’t fancy going to see all of them! 🤯
Hi Ben we conducted some research at the beginning of last year asking practices for feedback on their PMS, it’s a little out of date but might be useful. Go right to the bottom of the article, give us your email address and you’ll be able to access the questionnaire responses htt…[Read more]

Just had a demo of the Teleos system and found it very good. Tried to book a demo three times with Vet It and sadly no response.
Thanks Morna, good to know. Sarah
We looked at Robovet when migrating from Ventana. Very expensive and complicated. Decided to go to Assissi after quite a lot of research on 1st august 2017. Very pleased. Excellent support. And good value.
Thanks ever so much Jonno, really useful feedback.

Out of interest, apart from being amazing, did the practice push on social media etc that they were independent or up their advertising after CVS Buyout to get disenfranchised clients to move?
Hi Ben, they have a very good presence on social media & have also only been opened for just over 2 years. They’ve built a very solid reputation so far.

This is our health template for breeders and litters. It auto fills vets details but puppy details have to be entered manually.
