It’s great to see so many new members joining this group. Please do post questions if you’re looking for guidance on any part of setting up your practice. If you’re already open, let us know how your new practice is going – any tips you think would help those just starting the process, I know would be gratefully received. Have a good weekend. Sarah

    • Hi we’re just starting out and are getting a lot of calls about pricing that tend to go nowhere. is this a thing you all get?

    • Morning Ian, great question. I’ll contact a few practices this morning to see if they are experiencing the same. We have a number of new mobile practices who have opened recently who I am sure will be happy to reply. I expect you’re already doing this, but when people are calling, are you asking when boosters etc. are due? Great to keep a note of…[Read more]

    • thanks Sarah !

    • Hi Ian,
We’re a mobile practice in Witney, Oxfordshire. We’ve had a few similar calls but nothing out of the ordinary – we would see this amount of calls for prices etc in a normal practice in the area. I think a lot of people want to know if we’re going to be cheaper or more expensive than their own vets.
We’ve been giving out prices only for…[Read more]

has anyone had any problems with gastric ulcers claims ? we have had an insurance co decide the claim is closed as complete resolution noted on re scope – despite having months of time left on claim and being nowhere near vets fees limit. and another where vet Rec ongoing Tx as grade 1 ulcers noted but still symptomatic – but ins co have clause in…[Read more]

    • Not yet, but thanks for the warning. As you say, clinical notes need to be very carefully worded if this is the case.

    • hi Lindsay, only just catching up with messages as my app has been misbehaving. we’ve definitely started having problems with insurance companies – I now always warn owners before any score that if only grade 1 ulcers found they won’t be covered. we’ve also found where an ulcer claim is open and still has time / money left they will not pay for…[Read more]

  • I have recently heard a vet on my local radio talking about the importance of insuring pets. The vet was concerned that her clients might buy a policy that was “not worth the paper it was written on” and that in these times of increasing calls on the household budget, it was essential that a policy was in place, in case their beloved pet needed…[Read more]

  • Good Afternoon. Could any of our members assist me with an enquiry that a Vetsure member has asked earlier about Radiation Services? Hi there

  • Is anyone utilising their RVN’s to help with consulting? So the vet can move from one consult to the next confirming findings, history etc and authorising treatment. With vets needed in so many practices could this help with the vets time?

    • Hi Gemma, as someone who is married o a Canadian vet nurse I can confirm that in North America the nurse goes to the waiiting room, calls the patient, weighs them, takes a brief history , gets the vaccines etc if needed and then the vet goes in, does an exam and gives the treatment. It speeds things up considerably and vastly increases turnover,…[Read more]
