yes i think sam may is great too! she is a fantastic example of positivity when combining motherhood and professional life. she is to be admired – we love her here. in fact i find that colleagues who come back to work after maternity leave invariably do so because they are strongly committed to their vocation , and the effort they have to make to do this makes them even more committed and consequently very valuable to the practice; i have many examples, and i admire them all. i have found that if one recognises then employs fully engaged staff members as a principle, they “find a way” to cope with all sorts of challenges, and repay whatever support is required to enable them to do so. so its a sound investment and not always a cost in financial terms.
