My understanding that beyond the L2 one has never been identified in the UK, and one a few isolated clusters – which does not make this a core vaccine.
Set against quite common local injection site reactions and the fatality of an otherwise very healthy 7year Bolognese (in spite of treatment) I have had a discussion with my vets and are defaulting to L2.

Hi all, anybody have any info on prevalence of L grippotyphosa and L Australia? Are they core vaccine requirements?
We are experiencing fairly frequent L4 local reactions and one recent SAR fatal IMHA even though it was treated promptly and appropriately, we are minded as a Practice to recommend clients go for L2.

Latest I heard the one I know of has just been abandoned
Hi Ian, I’ll certainly ask for you when
I’m visiting practices over the next week. Sarah
I’m with you on this Ian. when I used to work for intervet (as MSD was then), the vaccine in development was lepto 7. Three serovars clearly didn’t get through trials and hey presto – you’re left with the 4 serovars that we absolutely must protect against! marvellous. especially as the same vaccine is essential in all parts of the world!
