hi Ian. whilst it has been a while since I’ve been in practice, it seems from chatting to our Claims Manager @ Vetsure that the approach used by vets has not changed much on these sort of tests. In general, claims for such tests include the test at cost but then have a vets ‘test and interpretation fee’ to cover the cost of time and expertise taken to undertake the test and your expertise at interpreting the results and putting into concept of the case.
hi Ian – fellow mobile vet here down in Newcastle, just starting out…I wrestled with this too and have set ours at 50% which is still substantially cheaper than the big corporate I was working at previously, I’m hoping this will encourage more uptake as I’ve felt previously that some tests are prohibitively expensive and clients just don’t do them as frequently. I may then add a notional fee to cover the above, I’ve not decided yet. I hope this helps
thanks for the feedback guys! and hello fellow mobile vet! Yes I tend to do the standard 50% markup on pharma but on this one it’s more like cost plus fees as the lab fee I quoted has gone up by 30% since I last used them!
