    Good Morning Everyone.
I hope you all had a pleasant weekend.
One of our Vetsure members has very kindly sent us photographs and details of the measures they have put in place to address customers coming back on to the premises. Thank you to Martin from Donaldson’s Vets in Huddersfield for sending us the photos which I’ve posted below and for allowing us to share these with other Vetsure members.
Some additional info from Martin. “We started having clients back in the building on Wednesday and so far it has worked well with a receptionist “checking clients in” and managing the carpark with a laptop from the gazebo at the front door and asking them to wait in the car, then bringing them forward into the building one by one. We have allowed a maximum of 2 owners with each animal. There is a hand sanitising station at the entrance and a limited number of seats in the waiting room, each with paper towel and disinfectant if people wish to clean the seat before sitting down. They follow a one-way system towards the consulting rooms as they move from seat to seat. When they come into the consulting room, we have a glazed partition which divides the room into a client side and a vet side, and the animal is passed under the screen for examination. After the consult, the client is routed to the reception desk (which now has Perspex screens to receive their medication, pay and book a follow up consult).
We have had a few clients who have asked if they can remain outside, but all the staff are happy with the safeguards that are in place and clients have, without exception, given positive feedback. “
We’d be very interested to hear how other Vetsure members have implemented social distancing measures at their practice for both our benefit and for other Vetsure members also, as we are all aware of the challenges faced. Please feel free to share any thoughts, tips and photographs here where they may be beneficial to others.

    Speak soon.

    Steve

    • The screens in the consult rooms are tempered glass( 3 days lead time and slightly less expensive than perspex which is difficult to get hold of right now. The screens on reception are perspex and were manufactured by Harte’s . They manufactured our Reception desk but their bread and butter is producing checkouts for a lot of supermarkets and tell me they have produced over 40,000 perspex screens in the last 2 months. They can be found http://www.harte.co.uk

    • Best person to speak to is Stuart Thompson. Very helpful. He can be contact at…… sthomson@harte.co.uk
