It’s great to see so many new members joining this group. Please do post questions if you’re looking for guidance on any part of setting up your practice. If you’re already open, let us know how your new practice is going – any tips you think would help those just starting the process, I know would be gratefully received. Have a good weekend. Sarah
Hi we’re just starting out and are getting a lot of calls about pricing that tend to go nowhere. is this a thing you all get?
Morning Ian, great question. I’ll contact a few practices this morning to see if they are experiencing the same. We have a number of new mobile practices who have opened recently who I am sure will be happy to reply. I expect you’re already doing this, but when people are calling, are you asking when boosters etc. are due? Great to keep a note of dates and contact details if they are happy to share this info with you so you can get back in touch a month before due. Do you have a health plan? A low monthly direct debit cost that covers all preventative health care (and you can build your visit fees into the monthly cost) for the year, helps clients spread the cost and can sound more affordable than paying a lump sum. Might be worth exploring if you’re not already doing. Vetsure provide health plan management services, as well as home delivery of heath plan products direct from the wholesaler to your clients home – this has been particularly popular for mobile practices who don’t always have a base for clients to collect flea/worm tx. from. I’ll do my best to get some feedback from other practices for you. Have a good day. Sarah
thanks Sarah !
Hi Ian,
We’re a mobile practice in Witney, Oxfordshire. We’ve had a few similar calls but nothing out of the ordinary – we would see this amount of calls for prices etc in a normal practice in the area. I think a lot of people want to know if we’re going to be cheaper or more expensive than their own vets.
We’ve been giving out prices only for basic things, vaccines and consults etc. Anything else they need to register first before we can do estimates, especially as we’re pricing a lot as we go!
Hope that makes sense,
Zoe
